The Festival Terras sem Sombra travels for the first time to Alto Alentejo to, in a military tone, open the trenches of heritage and biodiversity in the municipality of Elvas, on the 19th and 20th of May.

The epicenter of this trip to the border will be the church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, the old Cathedral of the city, where the concert “War and Peace: The Historical Trumpet in European Baroque Music” will take place at 21 pm on Saturday, May 30th.

On stage, a Spanish ensemble of reference in ancient music, Batalla Clarins, which has been triumphing in theaters and festivals in the neighboring country.

This show, premiering in Portugal, reveals a valuable repertoire of religious works, as well as military and court works, from the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. XVII and XVIII, with an emphasis on Baroque, written by great European musicians for historic trumpets, organ and percussion and newly discovered manuscripts in the National Library of Madrid.

The group mentors Batalla Clarins, trumpet player Vicente Alcaide, organist Abraham Martínez and percussionist Álvaro Garrido, are reference figures in the peninsular and international music scene, having recently recorded an album dedicated to the historical trumpet, which became best sellers.

 

Discover the treasures of Elvas' heritage

The afternoon of the 19th will be dedicated by Terras sem Sombra to the visit of Forte da Graça, “jewel in the crown” of Elvas' heritage, under the guidance of specialists, who will reveal the military genius and artistic excellence of this magnificent fortress. outstanding of its kind, in Portugal, in the second half of the 15th century, and target of the pilgrimage of researchers and amateurs of military architecture from all over the world. The meeting point will be at the monument itself, at 00:XNUMX.

In partnership with the Portuguese Association for the Mobilization of Soil Conservation, on Sunday, the 20th, from 10:00 am, the Festival promotes a volunteer action to safeguard nature.

The target will be a set of practices that allow the management of agricultural soil with the least possible change in its composition, structure and natural biodiversity.

These techniques, used in conservation agriculture, have very positive effects on the soil, contributing to an increase in the organic matter content. The action takes place under the guidance of Gabriela Cruz, an agronomist.

The initiatives of Terras sem Sombra are open access and are organized by Associação Pedra Angular.
