The protocol of the “Pró-Montado Alentejo” initiative will be signed next Monday, May 7th, at 18 pm, in the main hall of the Alcácer do Sal Town Hall.
In addition to the signing of this protocol, a letter will also be signed to be sent to Prime Minister António Costa, on the impact of climate change on the Cork Oak Forest in Alentejo and the urgent actions to be taken, and an Executive Committee will be set up.
The “Pró-Montado Alentejo” initiative is formed by forestry producers and municipalities in the Alentejo region, as well as Environmental Defense Associations and experts in the sector.
The members of this initiative consider that this Government is not «showing signs of a correct assessment of the risk (and severity) in which climate change is incurring, which is jeopardizing the so-called “Multifunctional” Forest”, and therefore , will present various proposals for measures to the Government.
