The poster for the 15th edition of the MED Festival is presented on the 26th of May, at 21 pm, at the Cine-Teatro Louletano and the event will feature a concert by Omiri.

For this performance, the Portuguese musician invited Celina da Piedade.

The show will be presented by Raquel Bulha and Edgar Canelas, two well-known voices on radio and television and who have been present at the MED Festival over the years.

According to the Câmara de Loulé, «Omiri is one of the most original projects for the reinvention of Portuguese traditional music. To reinvent tradition, there is nothing better than bringing to the show the true players of our culture: musicians and sounds from all over the country playing and singing as if they were part of the same universe. Not in flesh and blood but in sound and image, with collections transformed and manipulated in real time, serving as the basis for Vasco Ribeiro Casais' composition and musical improvisation».

A ball is also proposed where all the themes played are danceable, according to the rhythm and balance of traditional dances and beyond (Repasseados, Drum n'bass, Malhões, Viras, Break Beat, Corridinhos…).

«Omiri is, above all, remix, the culture of the XNUMXst century, mixing in a single show musical practices that have already been forgotten, making them permeable and accessible to today's culture, that is, synchronizing forms and music from our rural tradition with the language of urban culture».

«In Omiri, Portuguese music and culture is rich and likes itself», summarizes the municipality.

Joining the party is the charismatic Celina da Piedade, who has already stepped on the MED stage in 2015. She has taken her accordion and her voice to the most different contexts, somewhere between the traditional shapes and colors, on journeys through the memories of the music of Portuguese roots and a more modern and universalist feeling.

«He draws music full of soul and personality, which, on stage, wins with his formidable presence. Due to the fact that Celina da Piedade sings the South as few others have, she has been invited to take Alentejo music to the most diverse parts of the globe, with Algeria, Brazil and Spain standing out among others».

Tickets for this event cost 5 euros and are already on sale at Cine-Teatro Louletano e here
