Rui Marques managed to fulfill his dream. THE The fundraising campaign collected the necessary 5 euros and this young autistic young man from Porches (Lagoa) will finally have a dog for assistance.

In addition to the many smaller (but equally important) private donations, there was a private contribution in the amount of 2355 euros, which covered the amount that was missing.

And the very Sul Informação «It helped a lot for this cause, with the article that it published», as Rui's mother, Elsa Marques, told our newspaper.

Now, according to the forecast put forward by the Portuguese Association of Assistance Dogs to the Sul Informação, the bitch will be delivered next week to the young autistic.

For now, the animal does not yet have an official name, as it is expected that it will be the young Rui a baptize the one who will become your best friend.

A student at Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School, in Portimão, Rui, who likes drawing, cars and computers, will thus be able to have a more autonomous life.

It's just that, as Rui's father reminded the Sul Informação, upon publication of the report, «my son cannot walk alone in the street and, even indoors, he must always be with him. When crossing a road, he is not aware of the danger».

Basically, the dog, who has already completed the training phase, in a process that, in total, costs 5 euros, will be Rui's connection to the world. In a person suffering from autism, the presence of an assistance dog is important because, in addition to giving him independence, it helps to calm down in more critical moments. By the way, these dogs are trained for just that.

As Rui's parents told our newspaper, “everything we do is for him. There are difficult days, of course there are, but we try everything to make our child better prepared for when we are not here. This is our panic».

This fundraising campaign was promoted by the Portuguese Association of Assistance Dogs, which exposed the case. Since 2014, eight assistance dogs have been certified by this association.
