"I don't want to die without paragliding," Margarida Tengarrinha had said. to the Público report, in an article dedicated to its 90 years well lived, who celebrated yesterday. And at the (more or less) surprise dinner they gave him this Monday, a friend offered him…a paragliding flight baptism.

The original gift was offered to her by Lurdes Pacheco, an employee of the Portimão Museum, who has worked with Margarida Tengarrinha, for example when she is a volunteer in the restoration and conservation workshop of the Algarve's museological structure.

"My nephew has a paragliding center and when I read in the newspaper that Margarida wanted to try it, I immediately thought: this is what I'm going to offer!». And so, one of these days, there will be Margarida Tengarrinha walking through the air, getting to know her Algarve by bird flight.

Yesterday's dinner, in Praia da Rocha, was promoted by two of her friends – Gisela Lima and Manuela Barra – and was attended by 80 people, including Margarida's two daughters, Teresa Dias Coelho and Guida, who were also at the organization of the party.

But there were also childhood friends and others (and others) more recent, members of the Communist Party, as well as mayors, many members of the Friends of the Museum of Portimão, the ICIA and the Senior University of this city, where the birthday girl teaches History of Portimão. Art. And even a journalist.

This is because Margarida Tengarrinha, despite her 90 years of age, does not stop – she was an antifascist resistant, former deputy and leader of the PCP, she is a painter, writer, professor at the Senior University of Portimão, distinguished member of the Grupo dos Amigos do Museu de Portimão, a volunteer in this museum space, recently launched another book ("Memories of a Counterfeiter»)…and now you're going to experience the thrills of paragliding.

Very happy with the (more or less) surprise party they prepared for her, Margarida also received, as gifts, bunches of flowers - especially carnations and the branch of the ear -, as well as a cake decorated with a carnation Red. «I'm not here to hold a rally, but I want to tell you that I'm very, very happy to be here surrounded by so many friends», said the honored woman, when they sang her congratulations.
