The Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests has opened a tender to hire 90 forest watchers for the first intervention in forest fires and aftermath operations, of which five will be for the Algarve, all for Vila Real de Santo António.

The new 90 jobs, in the career and operational assistant category, will be subject to a one-year employment contract in public functions and with remuneration corresponding to the guaranteed minimum monthly remuneration.
The center's nature and forest conservation department takes more than half of the candidates, out of a total of 50, of which 35 in Marinha Grande and 15 in Figueira da Foz.

The northern department will absorb 15 of the 90 jobs (five in Arouca, five in Viana do Castelo and five in Ribeira de Pena), and 10 jobs in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (five in Nazaré/Valado de Frades and another five in Azambuja/Virtudes).

The conservation of nature and forests in Alentejo will benefit from 10 new places in the competition, five of which in Sines and another five in Alcácer do Sal, and in the Algarve another five places in Vila Real de Santo António.

In the published notice, ICNF characterizes the functions to be performed by the 90 new workers, including the first intervention in forest fires, combat and subsequent post-fire aftermath and surveillance operations, but "as long as they are integrated" in the Integrated Prevention Device Structural (DIPE), and provided for in an operational directive approved by the National Civil Protection Commission.

Monitoring the conduct of controlled fires, carrying out fires, monitoring the areas to which it is assigned, protecting people and property and also sensitizing the public to the rules of conduct for prevention, the use of fire and the cleaning of forests are other foreseen functions .

In the notice, ICNF reminds that the Public Administration, as an employer, actively promotes a policy of equal opportunities between men and women in access to employment, and specifies that candidates with disabilities must declare, in the admission application, their respective degree of disability, the type of disability and the means of communication/expression to be used in the selection process.

The competition jury, responsible for setting the evaluation parameters and weighting of each of the selection methods, is chaired by Carlos Sá Ramalho, head of the operational management and inspection division.
