While Diogo Infante was narrating the events, a chamber group from the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, directed by conductor Rui Pinheiro, accompanied the plot with music, always appropriate to the adventures of “História do Soldado”.

This was the case during the entire show of the Algarve International Music Festival (FIMA) that enchanted, this Friday, 18 May, the Grand Auditorium of the University of Algarve's Campus de Gambelas, in Faro.

The Algarvian actor was then the narrator of the popular story written by Stravinsky, in collaboration with Ramuz and inspired by Russian folk tales.

The Orquestra Clássica do Sul performed a score written by Stravinsky during World War I, for an orchestral number of seven instruments – violin, double bass, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone and percussion.

If you couldn't make it to this concert, please know that this Saturday, May 19th, there is another FIMA show. A string sextet from the Orquestra Clássica do Sul will perform the concert “Recordações de Viagens”, from 21 pm, at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, in Silves.

The evening's program includes the pieces “Cenas da Montanha”, by the Portuguese Vianna da Motta, “Night on the roads of Madrid”, by Bocherinhi, and “Souvenir de Florence”, by Tchaikovsy.

And this year's edition of the Algarve International Music Festival only ends on the 24th of May, with the concert “As Mil e uma Noites”, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, which will be performed by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, conducted by conductor Peter Stark and accompanied by Italian soloist Francesca Dego, on violin.
