The City Council of Aljezur will distribute 210 thousand euros in support to the four Parish Councils of the Municipality. This amount is combined with the delegation of powers agreements, already in force since the beginning of the mandate.
The 210 thousand euros will be distributed equitably among the different boards, that is, you will have at your disposal a sum of 52,5 thousand euros.
In the parish of Aljezur, the money will be divided between the Program for the Occupation of Free Time for the unemployed, retired and retired (10 thousand euros), the summer, Christmas and New Year's entertainment program (15 thousand euros), the constitution of Civil Protection Unit (20 thousand euros) and financial support for the construction of the Parish Council.
Bordeira will use the 52,5 euros to acquire a pickup and/or tractor (40 euros), to build a bathroom next to the Church of Carrapateira (10 euros) and finance the summer entertainment programme, Christmas and New Year (2,5 thousand euros).
In Odeceixe, the money will be used to purchase light vehicles (pickup or other) and/or tractor with the respective equipment (40 thousand euros), in the Summer, Christmas and New Year's entertainment program (7,5 thousand euros) and in the remodeling and/or conservation works of the bathrooms at Praia de Odeceixe.
At Rogil, 50 thousand euros will be allocated to the construction of a multipurpose room for the installation of the administrative services of the board and the remaining 2,5 thousand euros are for the summer, Christmas and New Year's entertainment program (2,5 thousand euros ).
This support is used to help the Parish Councils fulfill their range of responsibilities, «which aim to promote and safeguard the interests of the respective populations», according to the City Council of Aljezur.
But, considers the municipality, direct transfers from the State are not enough for the parishes of Aljezur to fulfill these assignments in full, taking into account that, since the demographic, territorial, social and economic reality of the parishes of the Municipality does not allow them to generate own income.
«The Municipality must be the guarantor of the promotion of territorial cohesion, of the reinforcement of institutional solidarity, in order to ensure the improvement of the quality of services provided to local populations. The principles of equality, non-discrimination, transparency, participation and the need and sufficiency of resources were ensured among all parishes», concluded the City Council of Aljezur.
