The Algarve Design Meeting will return to Fábrica da Cerveja, in Faro, between the 22nd and the 26th of May and, in addition to conferences, exhibitions, workshops, Pop Up stores, Alumni Design Talks, cinema and videomapping, this year's edition has something new: the first edition of the Algarve Design Awards.
These awards, according to the organizers of the event, «are intended to distinguish a set of professional projects in three areas of design (communication, interior and product), carried out and implemented in the Algarve during 2017, distinguishing the best examples of quality design as well as investment in innovation and research in the area of design in the Algarve region».
For the attribution of these prizes, in the area of communication design, works carried out in the categories of poster, branding, branding, visual identity, communication campaign and signage will be considered.
In interior design, work carried out in the categories of design of public spaces and private spaces and, in the area of product design, work carried out in the categories of product/industrial design.
National and international designers or design companies may submit applications until April 30, 2018 through of this platform.
The final decision of each of the winners will be made public on May 26, 2018, at the end of the 8th Algarve Design Meeting.
In addition to all the activities planned between 22 and 26 May, the ADM will once again “color” the façade of the Cathedral of Faro with the Videomapping Festival, scheduled for the last day of the event, at 22 pm.
According to the organization, this is a «large-scale sound and image festival, where experimental works are projected on the façade of the Igreja da Sé» by students from the University of Algarve-ESEC, University of Tomas Bata-Czech Republic, Faculty of Architecture from the University of Lisbon, the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, the ESAD – School of Arts and Design, of Matosinhos and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon.
