The responsible, together with Madalena Victorino, for this cultural program, which is part of “365Algarve”, spoke with the Sul Informação, before the show opens on April 24th, at 21 pm.
“Bestias”, he said, “is part of the contemporary circus and the new circus in particular, with this aesthetic that comes from France”.
The responsible company is “Baro d'Evel”, a “historical group that, for over 20 years, has done a very interesting job in the relationship of this idea of animals within the new circus”, explained Giacomo Scalisi to our newspaper.
The whole spectacle is "very unusual". It's because? Because it deals with an issue so on the agenda: "the relationship we have, humans, with animals, and which has to have a very strong and concrete change due to the trends we are going through in terms of the destruction of the earth", considered the programmer cultural.
On stage there will be two horses (Beautiful and Shengo) and the birds Gus, Zou, Farouche and Midinette, as well as dancers, acrobats and musicians. But whoever thinks that this is one of those circus shows where animals are used as objects make a mistake.
“Here they don't do numbers. The animals are part of the cast, are well cared for and have dignity, something they often don't have in everyday life,” said Giacomo.
Therefore, it is not surprising that the cultural programmer has no fear of possible less positive reactions due to the use of animals in the show. «Worried? I'm not. Quite the contrary. I want everyone to come and see why this way they discover how it is possible to change this paradigm of animals in the traditional circus. Here there is an appreciation of the animal. It's a lesson for everyone».
Everything will take place in a kind of «primitive tent», with 350 seats, and which has a part dedicated to horses. In fact, to get to the track, the public will have to make a special “route”. The implementation of the hat-hat it makes the horses have freedom because they are not tied up.
