The Procession of the Burial of the Lord will pass, next Friday, through the streets of the cities of Faro and from Portimão, from 21 pm.

The Chamber of Faro emphasizes that this is «one of the most imposing liturgical events that take place in the Algarve and one of the oldest and most shared traditions of the Farense society», while the Portimão Chamber highlights this ritual as «one of the highlights of Holy Week», as it is about “a manifestation of great religiosity and full of symbolism”.

Em Faro, the procession, which is organized by Santa Casa da Misericórdia, with the support of the Municipality, will leave Praça D. Francisco Gomes, following Rua 1º de Maio, Rua Filipe Alistão, Largo de São Pedro, Rua Baptista Lopes, Rua Lethes, Rua Sacadura Cabral, Largo 25 de Abril, Rua Mouzinho de Albuquerque, Rua João de Deus, Largo dos Combatentes (next to the Court), Rua de Santo António, Rua D. Francisco Gomes, ending at Igreja da Misericórdia, at Praça D Francisco Gomes (next to Jardim Manuel Bivar).

The organization suggests and thanks the residents of the houses through which the procession will pass to place quilts, hangings or draperies on the windows during the procession.

In the city of Portimão, the route starts at Igreja do Colégio and will travel along streets Mouzinho de Albuquerque, Direita, Diogo Tomé, returning to the Igreja Matriz.
