Linda Martini will take to the stage of Cine-Teatro Louletano this Friday, March 9th, at 21 pm, to present the album “Linda Martini”, their fifth feature, in a long-awaited return to the Algarve.

«The album will be played in its entirety, but it's 41 minutes long, so we're going to play more songs. Let's play a little bit of all the records. The presentation on stage and the lighting design is completely new in relation to what was done in “Sirumba”», reveals Hélio Morais, vocalist and guitarist of the band to Musical-Sul Informação.

Launching a homonymous record for the fifth album generates some strangeness and many questions, but the explanation is quite simple: «the intention was not to make a homonymous record. We decided to use on the cover a photo of an Italian girl who “lent us” her name in 2003. It was taken in 2014 at a wedding of mutual friends, and it only made sense to use it if the album was homonymous», says the musician.

In almost every interview this is a constant question, as, with 15 years of existence, the band could have used the date for reflection or a career introspection. “From the moment you name the album after the band, you take the opportunity to find a funny explanation for it and then you start thinking about your career and the number of records you've edited and what those records mean. But the only true and serious explanation is that the name came about because of the photo».

The album was composed in two retreats: one in Amares, in Minho, in November 2016, and the second in Serra da Arrábida, in July 2017, and was recorded in Catalonia at the end of the year.

Despite the dedication of all members to the band, with the professions of each one making possible an “elasticity” of schedules, it was essential for the final result to have a period in which the group concentrated on composing.

“The fact that we had more free time to dedicate to the band was not reflected in rehearsal time together. So we decided to do these seven day retreats, no more, to lose focus. It was very important to condense everything these days, at once, to focus on the thing, that's what we did and it went very well», explains Hélio Morais.

The recording was made in Catalonia, between October and November of last year, with Santi Garcia, the intended producer, with whom they had already worked on the mixing and mastering of “Olhos de Mongol”, from 2006, and “Marsupial”, from 2008. «On this record we decided to take a bit more risk and as we wanted a more raw and abrasive album, we researched producers who understood not only what we do nowadays, but also our punk-hardcore past. The goal was for them to be able to bring this gut feeling. for the record, and the end result is neither punk nor hardcore. Santi's name was the most consensual».

Linda Martini are composed by André Henriques (vocals, guitar), Cláudia Guerreiro (bass), Hélio Morais (drums) and Pedro Geraldes (guitar).

Prices for this show vary between 8 euros (for over 65s and under 30s) and XNUMX euros, and the Friend Card discount is also applicable.
