The 12th edition of the Basketball Festival will take place from 3rd to 8th of April in various sports venues in the city of Albufeira, in what is already considered the largest federated youth sports competition held in the country.
There are six days of competition, interaction and solidarity with all the games to be broadcast via livestream. The “All-Star Game”, on April 7th, is one of the most anticipated moments of the Party.
Within the scope of this 12th edition, around 1200 representatives of the various regional teams of the men's and women's under-14 and under-16 levels are expected, who will be in competition for six days in six sports halls in the city.
The Welcome session will take place next Tuesday, April 3, from 18:30 pm, with a parade of delegations through the city center, starting at Avenida da Liberdade, passing by Largo Eng.o Duarte Pacheco and Avenida 25th of April towards Praça dos Pescadores, in a show that every year promises to surprise with its contagious color and joy.
The games, with free entry (limited to the capacity of the pavilions), take place at the Albufeira Municipal Pavilion, EBSA Sports Pavilion, ESA Sports Pavilion, Francisco Neves Pavilion, EB 2,3 Francisco Cabrita Pavilion and Olhos de Água Pavilion. The Finals are scheduled for the morning of April 8th.
The initiative continues to integrate a solidarity aspect, with a visit to the facilities of the Parish Center of Paderne being scheduled for Friday, April 6, at 11:00 am, aimed at delivering the funds raised at the event, through the Basket Solidário action. This year, each participant will contribute 2 euros, double the initial amount, with a fundraising of around 2800 euros expected.
The Basketball Festival is an initiative of the Portuguese Basketball Federation, in partnership with the Municipality of Albufeira and with the support of the Algarve Basketball Association, Imortal Basket Club and Albufeira Basketball Club. The event also has the collaboration of various district basketball associations across the country.
