Reactions to the death of Carlos Silva e Sousa, mayor of Albufeira, who passed away this thursday, continue to arise from various municipalities in the region, entities and also political parties.
The CCDR Algarve remembers Carlos Silva e Sousa as a “remarkable personality of the Algarve region” and expresses “felt condolences” to family and friends, as well as to the mayors and employees of the Municipality of Albufeira.
The Câmara de Tavira, on the other hand, keeps the memory of "a good man" and considers that "today we have all become poorer, due to the loss of a mayor dedicated to the public cause, competent, friendly and with a permanent availability and openness to contribute to solutions, not only with regard to the municipality of Albufeira but also the whole Algarve».
The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, for its part, speaks of a «tragic disappearance» which «constitutes an enormous loss for the Municipality of Albufeira and for the Algarve region».
Carlos Silva e Sousa, elected mayor of Albufeira by the PSD, also receives praise from the PS Algarve. The socialists recall “an Algarve citizen who chose Albufeira as his adopted council, where he made his personal and professional life and where he focused his political activity, he was always credited with the respect and admiration of all his fellow citizens”.
The PS highlights that, despite having had the exercise of municipal functions as the center of its public activity, Carlos Silva e Sousa «has always developed a great work in the social and humanitarian sphere, which earned him a deep respect and admiration from all those who with whom they had the opportunity to deprive and work».
«In addition to his institutional functions, Carlos Silva e Sousa was a man of causes, a good man, a friend of his friend», adds the PS.
The Left Block of Albufeira also joined the protests, noting that Carlos Silva e Sousa "dedicated many years of his life in favor of the municipality and public affairs".
