Summer is approaching and the demand for workers for the tourist peak season in the Algarve has already started. Until the end of March, there are Open Days, roadshows and recruitment fairs for hotels and commerce. It remains to be seen if there are workers for such an offer.

The hotel group RR Hotels, owner of Hotel da Rocha, Alvor Baía and Club Amarilis, will hold an Open Day, next Monday, February 26th, from 9:00 am, at Alvor Baía Resort Hotel.

The group says it intends to «recruit professionals to fill open vacancies in the kitchen areas, house keeping, restaurant, reception and bar, among others».

Also from Monday to March 3, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts will tour the country, with a roadshow recruitment for the units in the Algarve. For a week, a custom double-decker bus will pass through six cities: Évora (February 26th), Castelo Branco (February 27th), Coimbra (February 28th), Leiria (March 1st), Setúbal (March 2nd). ) and Vilamoura (3 March).

Tivoli is hiring

The offers of the Tivoli group are aimed at «whether young graduates looking for a summer or permanent job, or young people looking for a new professional challenge».

The interview and selection process of candidates will be the responsibility of the human resources team and key elements from the different areas of activity, such as F&B, house keeping ou front office, with the possibility of hiring at the moment.

This roadshow will also promote workshops specialized in different areas and, on the last day, in Vilamoura, there will also be an Open Day at Purobeach Poolside.

Vila Vita Parc Resort & Spa, in Porches, is also looking to sign up for the summer, which is preparing “a major recruitment campaign to strengthen its teams in 2018”.

This campaign “will be carried out through various channels and initiatives with a view to publicizing the various opportunities among the local population and specialized professionals, who are looking for new challenges that will allow them to show and consolidate their skills in a 5-star hotel unit”.

The Pestana Group has already started its hiring campaign in the Algarve, on February 2nd, but, on March 1st and 29th, there are two more recruitment actions at Pestana Alvor Praia.

This roadshow do Pestana, which has also been to Madeira and will also have actions in Cascais and Porto, «has as its main objective to recruit professionals and potential talents to fill open vacancies in various areas such as cooking, house keeping, restaurant, reception, entertainment», in the Pestana Hotel Group units in the Algarve, Lisbon, Porto, Cascais/Sintra, Madeira, Porto Santo and Azores.

MAR Shopping

In the area of ​​commerce, MAR Shopping and the Designer Outlet Algarve are also hiring and will promote a new job fair on the 26th, 27th and 28th of February, from 10:30 to 19:00.

This is already the third job fair organized by the commercial complex, in partnership with the Employment and Professional Training Institute.

The stores at Mar Shopping that are looking for workers are Aldo, Arcadia, Bershka, Lefties, Massimo Dutti, McDonald's, MEO, NOS, O Boticário, Opticália, Oysho, Primark, Pingo Doce, Pull&Bear, Quem disse Berenice, Stradivarius, The Phone House, Women's Secret, Zara and Zara Home.

At the Designer Outlet Algarve, Timberland, Guess, Perfumes & Companhia, Calvin Klein, Pepe Jeans and Sunglass Hut are hiring.

At this job fair, employers and job seekers “will have the opportunity to have a first contact, with the support of the IEFP, which will be ensuring the presence of technicians to support candidates and employers, clarifying application requirements, eligibility conditions , through measures to support employment and access to the IEFP training plan».

There is no shortage of job offers, it remains to be seen whether there will be enough workers. Madalena Feu, IEFP delegate in the Algarve, admitted to the Sul Informação which the lack of labor in the region continues to worry and one of the solutions found is the dissemination of job offers in other parts of the country and even abroad.

In the case of the MAR Shopping and Designer Outlet Algarve job fairs, the promotion of vacancies available in Andalusia was one of the measures adopted in 2017.
