Diogo Piçarra from Faro, Júlio Resende from Omen and Susana Travassos from Vilarreal will represent the Algarve at the 2018 Festival da Canção. Eurovision, takes place on 18 March.

Júlio Resende is the composer of song number 8, “To smile, I don't need anything”, which will dispute the first semifinal. Catarina Miranda will give voice to the composition of the Algarve pianist, who moved to Lisbon in 2001 and, later, to Paris, where he studied jazz.

Throughout his career, Júlio Resende collaborated with some of the biggest names in national music in various areas, from Fado to Rock. Salvador Sobral, winner of the Festival da Canção and the Festival da Eurovision in 2017, is one of the artists with whom Júlio Resende has worked, namely in the Alexander Search project.

In the second semifinal, two voices from the Algarve region will be heard on stage. The first will be Susana Travassos, a singer born in Vila Real de Santo António and daughter of Fernando Reis, director of Jornal do Algarve, who has spent most of her life in Brazil, where she has performed with big names like Zeca Baleiro or Toninho Vegetable garden. At the Festival da Canção, he will perform song number 14, “Mensageira”, composed by Aline Frazão.

Diogo Piçarra, on the other hand, will interpret “Canção do Fim”, a song composed by himself, which will have the number 19. The musician from Faro, who won recently the José da Ponte Award, promoted by the Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores (SPA), which rewards young Portuguese musical creators, achieved notoriety in the Portuguese music scene after winning SIC's “Idolos” program in 2012. Before that, the musician had already formed a band , the Out of Buoy.
