“Caveman”, a comedy about men and women, with interpretation by Jorge Mourato, will animate next Saturday, February 10th, from 21 pm, the Municipal Auditorium of Albufeira.

This is a «perfect mix between stand-up comedy, couples therapy and pure fun», according to the City Council of Albufeira.

«“Caveman” holds the record for the longest stage monologue in Broadway history, having won the hearts of more than 8 million viewers worldwide. Seen in over 45 countries and translated into 18 languages, the comedy now arrives at the Municipal Auditorium in Albufeira».

Interpreted by Jorge Mourato, «it is a hilarious show that portrays the way men and women relate. “Caveman” tells the story of a modern couple, Manuel and Teresa, and the ups and downs of their relationship».

«The reason for the great success of the play is not difficult to guess: since time immemorial, the small great quirks, differences and idiosyncrasies of men and women have been a source of reflection, introspection and, of course, a lot of humor».

The comedy was written by Rob Becker over a three-year period, during which he conducted a study of anthropology, prehistory, psychology, sociology and mythology.

The show opened in San Francisco in 1991 and later moved to Dallas. After a year – passing to acclaimed success – it went to Washington, Philadelphia and Chicago, before debuting on Broadway, in 1995. In Portugal, “Caveman” debuted with great success in 2009 and is now back on stage to see or revisit.

Tickets cost 5 euros and are on sale at Albufeira Town Hall at the Consumer Information Center (CIAC) and at Lídia Jorge Municipal Library, on weekdays, from 9:00 am to 13:00 pm and from 14:00 pm to 16:00 pm.

They can also be purchased on the day of the show, at the Municipal Auditorium, between 19:30 pm and 21:15 pm.
