The Alentejo hosts, in its 2018 edition, the National Championship of Professions, from February 25th to March 2nd: the opening will take place in Évora, on February 25th, followed by competition events in Beja (from 26th of February February to March 1st) and finally the closing in Sines, March 2nd.

In Portalegre (February 8th and 9th), the conference “Qualification, Employment and Territorial Development: New Challenges” had already taken place.

This is the largest national event held in Portugal in the context of professional training. It is a space of inspiration, information and guidance for young people, guardians, educators and Portuguese employers.

In Beja, over four days, 380 highly qualified young people compete with each other in 40 professions.

The competition is aimed at young people between 17 and 25 years old. It intends to demonstrate the individual level of skills, rigor and mastery of techniques and tools for the exercise of each profession in the competition, through practical performance tests that are evaluated by highly qualified expert juries (trainers, professionals, entrepreneurs).

But whoever visits this event can count on much more than just the competition. Artistic and professional creativity, science and technological innovation will be brought to the public.

O SkillsPortugal Beja|Alentejo 2018 It also has several initiatives developed in the competition spaces and surrounding area, over the days, namely, training and technological demonstrations, exhibitions, workshops and conferences and the JuniorSkills initiative, aimed at children in the 1st cycle of schooling, whose objective is approach and provide contact with the various professions in a playful way.

The National Championships take place every two years and bring together those classified with the best scores in the pre-selection phase, who compete with each other for the title of national champion in each profession.

Thus, the champions of the national phase apply for participation in the European and World Championships for Professions, organized, respectively, by WorldSkills Europe and WorldSkills International.
