The Alcoutim Chamber approved the renewal of a protocol with the Grouping for the Sanitary Defense of Cattle, Sheep and Goats of the Municipality of Alcoutim (ADS Alcoutim) which aims to promote public and veterinary health in the municipality.

Under this agreement, which also encompasses the municipalities of Loulé and São Brás de Alportel, the alcouteneja municipality will support ADS with a sum of 10 thousand euros.

The other partners will contribute 9 euros (Loulé) and 750 euros (São Brás de Alportel).

The contribution to this financing “takes into account the number of explorations existing in each municipality, the number of actions planned and the distance covered in each territory”, according to the City Council of Alcoutim.

"The renewal of the protocol allows for the equitable distribution of the amounts of financial support granted to the association and promotes the continuation of the services provided by the association to the three municipalities", according to the president of the Chamber of Alcoutim Osvaldo Gonçalves.

ADS Alcoutim, based in Giões, is a non-profit association that ensures "the periodic and permanent sanitary control of livestock farms". This group also strives to «prevent and fight infectious and parasitic diseases, through hygiene and prophylaxis measures, both medical and sanitary, to improve the hygienic conditions of the farms, to collaborate with the municipalities, with regard to the preparation and implementation of initiatives/activities that fall within the scope of the pursuit of common objectives».
