Carlos do Carmo will work at the Arade Congress Center

Lagoa will celebrate the 245th anniversary of the creation of the municipality, on the 16th of January, but the Municipality will mark the date with a program that starts on the 13th and only ends on the 27th. The concert by Carlos do Carmo, on the 20th, at 20:30 pm, at the Centro de Congressos do Arade, will be one of the highlights.

Next Saturday, January 13th, at 16 pm, at the Igreja Matriz in Porches, the book “Horizontes de Azul” by João Vasco Reis will be presented. This is a work on tiles and iconography, which completes the triad of publications by the Municipality of Lagoa, started in 00, within the scope of the year of Heritage.

Chagas Aleixo, researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, will present this book and, at the end of this event, there will be a musical note by João Pais.

On the 16th, the council's anniversary, Francisco Martins, mayor, will deliver to secondary school youth a reproduction of the 1773 Royal Charter, founder of the municipality of Lagoa. This moment is scheduled for 9:30 am, at the Padre António Martins Oliveira de Lagoa Schools Group.

Also from 9:30 am, the Royal Letter will be exhibited at the Municipal Archive.

At 15:30 pm, at Paços do Concelho, there is a concert by the Nova Filarmonia de Lagoa, which will interpret music from the 245th century, and a speech by Francisco Martins, who will address the residents on the occasion of the municipality's XNUMXth anniversary.

Afterwards, at 16 pm, the Salão Nobre of the Paços do Concelho hosts the conference “Social Movements of the South and of Citizenship: a proposal for a Museum for Lagoa”.

the 20th of January is dedicated to Education, which will be the priority in Lagos for the year 2018. Between 9:30 am and 17:00 pm, the Convento de S. José auditorium receives the conference “Educational Models and Approaches: History, Paths and Challenges”. At this event, the Project of Schools for Intercultural Education|Orquestra Intercultural Lagoa 2018-2019 will be presented.

In the evening, at 20:30 pm, the Arade Congress Center, in Parchal, will be the stage for the public presentation of events and anchor projects for 2018. This moment will be followed by Carlos do Carmo's concert “Fado é Amor”.

On the 25th of January, at 16 pm, the Lagoa Fair and Exhibition Park will host the inauguration of the Lagoa Operations Center, Cidade Inteligente, an initiative that is also part of the commemorations of the municipality's 00th anniversary.

The program ends on Saturday, January 27, at 15:30 pm, at Quinta dos Vales, in Estômbar, with the delivery of the Santos Stockler 2017 Literary Prize. “O Vinho”, by Nuno Campos Inácio, and “Drunkenness, sensibleness and other virtues”, by Pedro Caetano Amores) and details about the 2016 edition of this award will be revealed. Teresa Viola and Pedro Viola will bring the sounds of Fado to this ceremony.
