The II Journeys of the Algarve Biomedical Center will take place on the 16th of March, bringing together specialists in cardiology at the Hotel Real Marina & Spa, in Olhão. 

This event «intends to bring together the members of the consortium, the academic and hospital community, around the main themes of research, innovation and current affairs in the field of medicine and biomedicine», explains the University of Algarve (UAlg).

The initiative will feature a round table entitled “O ABC do Coração”, which will include some renowned national guests, such as Fausto Pinto, former president of the European Society of Cardiology, João Morais, president of the Portuguese Society of Cardiology, and José Bragança, researcher at the Center for Research in Biomedicine (CBMR) at UAlg working on cardiac development and congenital anomalies.

The event will also have, as keynote speakers, Constantino Sakellarides, consultant to the Minister of Health and Doctor of Public Health, full professor at the National School of Public Health and former director of the National School of Public Health.

The Algarve Biomedical Center is a consortium between the University of Algarve and the University Hospital Center of the Algarve, which aims to bring together researchers, students, health professionals and representatives of entities linked to education, training, scientific research and regional development.

This consortium's objective is «the improvement of healthcare in the Algarve region, with pre-hospital care being one of its focuses of action, namely through the Research and Training in Emergency Laboratory (LIFE) of the University of Algarve».
