The temperature is expected to drop across the country from next Friday, the 5th, with values ​​below 0°C in the highlands of the North and Center in the early hours of Saturday, with a maximum temperature below 14°C in Lisbon and Faro and only 4ºC in Guarda.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), this situation results from the passage of a cold frontal surface, which should bring periods of rain, sometimes heavy in the North and Center regions, extending to the South region throughout the morning. , and passing to showers that will be snow in the highlands, gradually descending the quota to 600 meters of altitude. There are conditions for the occurrence of hail and thunderstorm.

The wind will be moderate to strong from the southwest, blowing very strong with gusts up to 90 km/h in the highlands. After passing the front surface, the wind turns to the west quadrant, becoming
strong on the coast, with gusts up to 80 km/h.

From Friday afternoon, waves from the northwest of 6 to 7 meters are also planned from Viana do Castelo to Cabo de Sagres.

IPMA adds that these weather conditions should extend to Saturday, when the showers will be more frequent on the coast.
