Algarve clubs guarantee 6 records and 22 medals in the National Winter Master Championship

Athletes from the four clubs in the Algarve that participated, this weekend, in the International Open Master/National Master Winter Championship, in Vila Franca de Xira, achieved six national records and a total of 22 medals (15 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze).

At the collective level, the best performance was for the Swimming Club of Faro, with 13 medals (5 gold, silver and bronze) and five national records.

Organized by the Portuguese Swimming Federation, in the municipal swimming pools of Vila Franca de Xira, there were three days of Master Swimming, with the presence of athletes from five European countries: Portugal, Spain, Germany, France and Sweden. A total of 81 clubs were represented by 727 athletes (481 male and 246 female).

From the Algarve, the Swimming Club of Faro, Portinado, Louletano Sports Club and O2 Portimão, with a total of 26 athletes (18 males and 8 females). The club with the greatest representation was Portinado, with a total of 15 athletes.

In individual terms, the highlight goes to athlete Elena Garmonal, from Clube de Natação de Faro, with the achievement of 4 national records and 4 national titles, in the G category:
first classified and national record holder of the 50 moth, with a time of 34.54
first classified and national record holder in the 50m freestyle, with a time of 32.36
first classified and national record holder of the 100m moth, with a time of 1:21.04
first classified and national record holder of the 100m styles, with a time of 1:20.05

Also Isabel Figueira, from the Swimming Club of Faro, obtained two national records and five national titles, in the C class:
first classified and national record holder at 100m breaststroke, with a time of 1:14.91
first classified and national record holder at 50m breaststroke, with a time of 33.84
first classified at 100m free time, with a time of 1:01.83
first ranked at 100m styles, with a time of 1:12.40
first classified at 50m free time, with a time of 28.20

From the Swimming Club of Faro, Patrick de Bazelaire won three national titles, in the J category:
first ranked at 100 Back, with a time of 1:28.43
first placed at 200m back, with a time of 3:12.59
first placed at 50m back, with a time of 40.29
first classified in the 200m freestyle, with a time of 3:03.50

Marco Pinho, from Portinado, obtained a national title, in the H level:
first ranked at 50m moth, with a time of 42.29
second place at 50m back, with a time of 40.38
second place at 100m back, with a time of 1:28.85
second place at 200m back, with a time of 3:15.85
second ranked at 100m styles, with a time of 1:30.37

José Faustino, from Portinado, obtained a national title, in step F:
first classified in the 200m moth event, with a time of 3:16.93
third place in the 200m styles test, with a time of 2:58.99

Alexandre Reis, from Portinado, step C, obtained the following results:
second place in the 50m freestyle event, with a time of 25.70
third place in the 100m freestyle event, with a time of 57.98
