The Secretary of State for Health will be in the Algarve tomorrow and Thursday to make official the inauguration of the Ossónoba Family Health Unit (USF), at the Health Center of Faro, and the reopening of the Vaqueiros Health Center, in Alcoutim, both already in operation. Manuel Delgado will also be present at the closing session of the 1st Conference of Family Health Units (USF) in the Algarve, in Lagos.
The Government member's tour begins tomorrow, November 29, at 16:30 pm, with the official inauguration of the new Farense USF, which has already started operating in August. According to the Algarve Regional Health Administration (ARS) «it brings together a multidisciplinary team, consisting of six doctors, six nurses and four technical assistants, coordinated by Dr. Daniela Emílio and covering around 10 users in the municipality of Faro».
The following day, November 30, at 10:00 am, Manuel Delgado will be in Vaqueiros, in the municipality of Alcoutim, to officialize the reopening of the Health Extension, which had been closed in 2013 by the Government then led by Passos Coelho. Last August, this valence, now renamed the Polo de Saúde, was reactivated, «under the collaboration protocol between the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve and the Municipality of Alcoutim with a view to the conversion of the former primary school building of Cowboys in a health unit».
«With this agreement, the municipality ensured the investment and the necessary works, carried out in close coordination with ARS technicians, with a view to revitalizing the old local primary school and ceded the building for the installation of the Vaqueiros Health Center, taking over the ARS Algarve is committed to affecting equipment and health professionals», revealed ARS do Algarve, adding that this unit serves 350 users.
At 12:00 on Friday, the Secretary of State for Health will be present at the session that will close the Jornadas das USF do Algarve, in the auditorium of the Paços do Concelho Séc. XXI building, in Lagos.
