Sean Riley & The Slowriders, a band founded by Afonso Rodrigues, celebrates the 10th anniversary of the release of “Farewell”, their 1st work, on a tour that also goes through Faro, this Saturday, at 21 pm, at Teatro das Figuras.

This is a possibility to listen to the disc in its order and in its most original format possible, but in a live format. «The concert involves playing, in their entirety, all the themes of the record, as if an auditorium were transformed into the living room, where they were placed. play on the CD, or if you play the vinyl, and you hear the album unfolding in front of you, music by music» says the musician to Musical-Sul Informação.

This is the band's commitment, with the particularity that, a decade later, the trio became a quartet, but with the concern to minimize changes, playing the songs in a way "as faithful as possible to what they were when they were recorded". Still, there will be a touch of actuality that marks the way the band plays nowadays.

This is the basic concept of the concert that marks this tour, but there is always the possibility of including other songs "if the public wants to, we always have some surprises that we can present", reveals the singer who took on Sean Riley's alter-ego.

Going back a decade and recovering an album that was iconic and affirming for the band from Leiria is a risky exercise, but one that has provoked «a taste of memory», reliving what it says are good memories and good memories. “The songs continue to make sense and it's good to go back to those moments that we wrote and recorded them”, he confesses.

Many of these songs are no longer present at concerts, but others have never been played live and this turns out to be a novelty and leads to «an almost complete rediscovery of the album», on the part of the band, who had to make some effort to remember how some of the themes are played.

This tour to commemorate the band's 10th anniversary has already been to theaters in Faial, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra and Leiria, with sold out theaters, which Afonso characterizes as «a very rewarding experience, for both parties» with «standing ovations» .

On this tour, the band has managed to gather the public that got to know the group right away with the debut album and also those «who had contact with the band on subsequent albums and who never had the opportunity to hear the “Farewell” concerts»

The celebration of 10 years is accompanied by a double edition of this album on CD and on vinyl, «something that was planned, but was not possible to do at the time», confides Afonso Rodrigues.

The CD reissue features three extra tracks: “Bring Your Boy Home”, which was never included on the album, and producer Wout Straatman's original recordings for “Moving On” and “Lights Out”.

On vinyl, the album is available in two versions: one in black and the other in orange, with the original poster of the band's first tour, «kept by Rui (from LuxRecords) always thinking about a future edition» , reveals the musician.

The concert at Teatro das Figuras lasts 60 minutes and tickets cost 10 euros.

“Let Them Good Times Roll” is a key theme that played an important role in the way the album was designed, being the first composed together by Afonso Rodrigues and Filipe Costa, focusing on the themes of their musicians' lives 10 years ago.
