A concert by the group “Ecos de Coimbra” will take place next Saturday, November 25, at 21 pm, at the Igreja Matriz in Loulé, as part of the commemorations of the anniversary of the Parish of São Clemente.

The group is originally from the Algarve and has been in existence for about 25 years.

Composed by José Maria Oliveira and Orlando Almeida on Portuguese guitar, Maurício Monteiro on classical guitar, António Vinagre, Joaquim Rogério and Luis Filipe on vocals, the group “Ecos de Coimbra” presents a repertoire of Coimbra Fados, Coimbra Music and Coimbrã Song .

This show is free to enter.

It was in the Parish Church of Loulé that the Parish of São Clemente originated in the 23th century (November 1249, XNUMX), after the castle was conquered from the Moors, by D. Paio Peres Korea. At the time, the current church was a mosque.

São Clemente is the second most populated parish in the Municipality of Loulé. Its area comprises around two thirds of the city of Loulé. “Therefore, talking about the Parish of S. Clemente inevitably means referring to the urban area of Loulé,” says the City Council.

From the Monument erected in honor of the engineer Duarte Pacheco, to the Municipal Market and the Town Hall, as well as the entire historic area of the city: from the Castle, through the Igreja Matriz to the Convento da Graça and ending at the Municipal Stadium, the monuments of São Clemente are a poster in the Loulé script.

It is also in the Parish of São Clemente that many of the Loulé events take place, with emphasis on the Loulé Carnival, on Avenida José da Costa Mealha.
