It is a tourism exhibition, which brings together several, but the Tourism Trade Show Algarve is, above all, an opportunity for students from the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School to show themselves to potential employers and even to show their entrepreneurial vein. It is also a long-awaited moment by companies, to try to ensure the best for their teams.

This event, which was born four years ago at the suggestion of the school's own students, started yesterday and ends today, November 16, at EHTA, in Faro. There, hotel and tourism students from the Algarve are having the opportunity to mingle with close to six hundred companies in the tourism sector, both regional and national.

When taking a walk around the venue, it is clear that the representatives of the companies present embarked, for the most part, on a true hunt for talent, either attracting students who pass by their stands, or visiting the "businesses" set up by students in various points of the contest.

«It is interesting to see, from the outset, the dynamic that is generated with the organization of students. On the other hand, see the membership of companies. There are so many companies here trying to attract students to work with them is positive. This demonstrates the importance of the schools of Turismo de Portugal today and the quality of the human resources trained here», considered Luís Araújo, president of Turismo de Portugal.

The responsible for this entity even considers that "there should be more events of this per year", although, he points out, "one is already quite good".

Paula Vicente, director of EHTA, highlighted the component of promoting contact between students and companies that the Tourism Trade Show Algarve has.

“This event arose from the need we had to bring together and agglomerate various interests in the sector. We had several requests from companies to come here to talk to students, to raise human resources. And we thought it best to bring everything together in a single space, to give companies the opportunity to show themselves and allow students time to receive them properly», he said.

Basically, it is about giving students “opportunities for careers, but also for entrepreneurship, because they know what they are doing and do it autonomously”. “All this is done by the students, with some help from the teachers, and they always surprise us – and more and more”, concluded Paula Vicente.
