The PSD's Municipal Political Commission considers that the news about the end of the “Servir+Portimão” coalition is a “non-political matter”.

In a statement, the social democrats from Portimão ensured that "at no time" their party "took the lead on the division and/or promoted initiatives to "cut or separate" this Electoral Coalition."

What the PPD/PSD of Portimão did “is what the law requires when it is in opposition”, the statement adds. «The Statute on the Right of Opposition, Law No. 24/98, of 26 May says that only Parties (and not Coalitions) and Citizens' Groups can apply for the Statute on the Right of Opposition. This is what we asked for, as per the present and permitted by Law. For us the “normality and formality” of this situation is a “non-political matter!”».

The statement also adds that "the coalition agreement signed by the PPD/PSD, CDS/PP, MPT and PPM, in the so-called "Servir+Portimão" Coalition, as well as the presented Program, are to be fulfilled throughout the 2017 municipal mandate -2021'.

"We maintain the same programmatic line that is one, transversal to all political parties and citizens without party affiliation that made up this coalition, as well as we will respect the guidelines previously based on this agreement", guarantee the social democrats from Portimo.

On the other hand, they add, the PSD recognizes "the identity of each political force represented in this coalition and the advantage for democracy and plurality of opinions that will be beneficial to all citizens of Portimo".

“Our elected representatives represent the PPD/PSD”, although they have been “elected by the Servir+Portimão Electoral Coalition constituted by the PPD/PSD, CDS-PP, MPT and PPM”, they further clarify.

The PSD of Portimão ends by stating that "it will continue to comply with the decision of Portimão, respecting the opposition position given by voters, and acting in accordance with the other Parties that share our political program for this mandate."

The coalition «Servir+Portimão» elected two councilors for the Chamber, in the case José Pedro Caçorino, who was the head of the list, now councilor of the CDS, and Manuel Henrique Valente, of the PSD.

Six members of the Municipal Assembly and nine for the three Parish Assemblies of the county were also elected.
