Gil Silva is the new delegate director of Teatro das Figuras. The person previously responsible for the programming and production areas of this cultural facility, in which he has been a collaborator since its opening, will assume the direction and succeed Joaquim Guerreiro, who died at the beginning of September, in the position.
In addition to naming the new direction of Teatro das Figuras, the Câmara de Faro inaugurated the new Board of Directors of the Municipal Theater of Faro – Municipal Services this Tuesday, the 24th of October.
The president of this body will continue to be Paulo Santos, vice president of the Chamber of Faro and responsible for the Culture department, which will have councilor Sophie Matias, an architect who was linked to the genesis of the Teatro das Figuras project, and councilor Adriano Guerra, head of the financial area, as members.
For the position of managing director, someone who knows the corners of the house well was chosen. Gil Silva has been working at Teatro das Figuras since 2005 and has held several positions in this cultural space, including front of house, producer, programmer, interim director.
The new director of Teatro das Figuras was born in Vila Real in 1974 and resides since 2003 in Faro. He graduated in Economics from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, attended the Master's Degree in Cultural Practices for Municipalities at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and has a Course in Management and Production of Performing Arts given by Forum Dança.
He is a founding member of Arquente – Associação Cultural and has experience as an actor/performer, having worked with names such as João Garcia Miguel, Miguel Pereira, Inéz Boza, Francisco Campos, André Murraças, Susana Vidal, Helena Flor, among others. He is also a director, having directed the plays We will go to Montecarlo, Phantom Limb e Scroll.
