The Municipality of Portimão considers that the protection and rescue device set up to accompany the BPM Festival and the Superbike World Championship, which took place last weekend, provided an «exemplary, professional and competent response, contributing to the safety of all who visited us during this period».

The municipality of Portimo reminds that «the BPM Festival took place for ten years in Playa del Carmen, in eastern Mexico, and this year Portimão hosted its 10th edition in an international expansion that had its first ever in Portugal, and which took place in six different places in our county» and also at the Centro de Congressos do Arade, in the Parchal, municipality of Lagoa, where 19 people were detained for drug trafficking.

To accompany the event, considering its dimension «and the expected impact on the city», a device was designed, within the scope of Municipal Civil Protection, with the participation of the Maritime Authority/Maritime Police, of the Portimão Fire Department, of the Portuguese Red Cross, from the National Republican Guard, from the Public Security Police and from the Municipal Civil Protection Service, in a total of 124 operational and 32 vehicles.

The BPM was joined by the World Superbike Championship, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, and, according to the municipality, «both events recognized the efficiency of the installed mechanism».

In addition to the Civil Protection device, the municipality highlights «the collection of waste and urban cleaning of EMARP – Municipal Water and Waste Company of Portimão, EM, SA, which reinforced the means in order to minimize the impact of carrying out events with these characteristics'.

Isilda Gomes, mayor of Portimão, "reports and publicly thanks the work done by all Civil Protection agents and other involved stakeholders."
