Pedro Fraga, better known as “Quique”, was the big winner in the MiniGP category, in the 6th round of the Oliveira Cup, which took place today in Portimão, at Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve (KIA).
The young driver, only 12 years old, showed an exemplary performance over the two legs of the journey, having also achieved the best time in the first one, with 1min09.994s.
With this victory in Portimão, the Spanish driver with number #13 rises in the overall standings, moving now to 3rd place, with 83 points.
Tomás Alonso still holds the lead in the championship, with an overall rating of 115 points, having achieved the maximum score in the second leg of the journey, which took place at the Superbike World Championship, in Portimão.
Recording the excellent performances of Beatriz Morais, aged 14, the only female rider to compete in the Oliveira Cup, and Rafael Damásio, aged 10, in the 6th and penultimate race of the Motorcycling School Trophy, with both riders to overcome their personal times and manage to climb the overall leaderboards.
“It was a very positive weekend in Portimão, with good weather, the Superbike World Championship right next door and our riders at their best. We were able to witness very close races, with a lot of spirit and this reveals how our riders are conquering their place in the sport”, says Miguel Oliveira, Moto2 rider at Red Bull KTM Ajo and mentor of the Oliveira Cup project.
In the Naked category, the podium was occupied by Javier Gomez, André Pereira and Miguel Martinez, after a very competitive race. Naked, a category aimed at pilots over 16 years old, even had Miguel Oliveira on track.
The 7th and final race of the 1st edition of the Oliveira Cup Motorcycling School Trophy will take place in Estoril, on 29 October.
