Concerts by C4 Pedro, “Iris” and the duo “Baby Lores & Luís” (Gomes) will liven up the fishermen's festivities, in honor of Nossa Senhora das Dores, to be held from September 5th to 10th, in Monte Gordo.
The celebrations begin on Tuesday, September 5th, with musical entertainment by the Philharmonic Band of the VRSA Cultural Association, at 21 pm. This will be followed, at 30:22 pm, by the dance show by Ballet Contemporâneo and the performance of the Etnographic Group Santo António de Arenilha.
The following day, Wednesday, the shows start at 22 pm, with Flamenco Dance by the Academia de Baile Gracia Diaz, followed by musician Luís Guilherme, at 00 pm.
On the 7th of September, at 15 pm, the traditional “Tournament of the Donkey Game” takes place, by the Fishermen's Association of Monte Gordo. From 22 pm onwards, the musical entertainment will be in charge of the Algarve band “Iris”, which will revive hits such as “Atira'Tó Mar…” and “Oh Mãe!!”.
On the 8th, the night is dedicated to the singing of Alentejo, with the good mood of the Banza Group.
On Saturday, the 9th, the day is reserved for activities for the younger ones, and the Beira-Mar veterans game is still scheduled at 17:00 vs Vidigueira, as well as the usual religious celebrations in the church of Monte Gordo.
The Saturday night entertainment starts at 22 pm and is in charge of “Baby Lores & Luís” (Gomes) and, later, by the Trio Sensação.
The highlight of the festivities is the religious procession, on Sunday, September 10th, at 17 pm. «Marked by a very characteristic character, the religious celebration runs along the sandy beach of Monte Gordo, being accompanied not only by hundreds of faithful and tourists, but also by fishing boats that, with their horns, announce the passage of the religious procession», explains the Vila Real de Santo António City Council.
Also on Sunday, at 22 pm, the western part of Monte Gordo receives «a concert by C4 Pedro, Angolan musician who is considered one of the international artists of the moment, leading the tops from the tables of Singles and playlists national radio stations», he adds.
«The singer will bring to the stage some of his greatest hits and will close in great that which is one of the most charismatic parties in the Algarve», he considers.
Closing the poster, at 00:00, is followed by the traditional fireworks, which will light up Avenida Marginal, next to the beach.
The festival in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows is organized by the City Council of VRSA and the Parish Council of Monte Gordo. It has the support of VRSA SGU – Vila Real de Santo António Urban Management Society, the Santo António de Arenilha Fishermen Association and the Bay of Artisanal Fishing Association Monte Gordo.
