A sailboat with two crew on board ran aground during the early morning hours of yesterday, 20th August, at Batata beach, in the municipality of Lagos.

To dislodge the sailboat, with an English flag and about 8 meters in length, the lifeboat at the Sagres Station and a boat belonging to the Maritime Police of the Lagos Local Command were activated.

The Maritime Authority explains that "due to the tide being flooded for two hours, it was possible, with the collaboration of a private vessel, to successfully dislodge the sailboat."

The crew, a Spaniard and a Finn, "when asked about what happened, they mentioned that they anchored during the night in front of Batata beach and, at sunrise, they realized that they were very close to the beach and already stranded", he says. the Maritime Authority.

The sailboat was not damaged and ended up navigating by its own means to the interior of the port of Lagos.
