Portimonense was even better and dominated most of the game, but ended up being defeated 2-1 by Marítimo, in a game counting for the 28st League, played today, August XNUMX, at Municipal de Portimão. The Madeirans' counterattacks proved fatal for the Algarve team, which was losing, managed to draw, but saw the opponent regain the advantage in the final minutes.

In a first-half marked by few chances to score, Portimonense was the team that most sought him out. Still, the best opportunity belonged to Marítimo, with Ricardo Valente getting the ball in the heart of the area, isolated, but seeing his shot landed in the hands of another Ricardo, in this case Ferreira, the Algarve goalkeeper.

Shortly after, the players (and fans) of Portimonense asked for a penalty, but the referee of the match ordered it to continue, without resorting to the video-referee. And it wasn't out of aversion to using this technology, since Vítor Ferreira had already relied on the VAR's image to make the final decision, following harsh entries from Marítimo players over Portimonense players, a consultation after which he kept the original decision to yellow them (instead of expelling them).

When Tabata lands in the area, the Madeiran player touches the foot of the midfielder of the Portimão team, which the referee of the match will not have seen or considered to be a reason for a penalty.

Portimonense entered “mandão” in the second half and put Marítimo on the ropes. At 52 minutes, the domain was very close to materializing in a goal, in a play in which Paulinho appears isolated against the goalkeeper Charles, who avoids the goal with a great save.

Portimonense was on top of the game, but Marítimo was threatening on the counterattack. And it was against the current of the game that the first goal of the match appeared, in the 68th minute, scored by Edgar Costa. The maritimist stuck on Ricardo Ferreira, Marcos even tried to cut over the line, but the referee validated the goal, after consulting the video-referee.

The handicap left a bitter aftertaste to the ones from Portimão, for what they had already done so far in the match. Marítimo, seeing themselves in the lead, closed behind and made life difficult for the Algarve attackers.

At least the equalizer was requested and Pires, the top scorer of the II League last season, complied with the fans and colleagues. At 86, Manafá entered the area at speed and served the striker, who scored with his heel.

The bucket of cold water appeared after the 90th minute, with Ricardo Valente having another opportunity, face to face with Ricardo Ferreira, and putting the ball into the goal with a well placed shot.

The final result was sealed, but the feeling remained that Portimonense, for everything they did, did not deserve to leave the game without points. This was the third defeat for the Algarve in the championship, in four rounds, and the first at home.
