A reflection on the desertification and depopulation of the Algarve, with the exhibition by Telma Veríssimo, and a meeting on the sustainability of the Mediterranean landscape are the proposals of the Casa-Museu João de Deus, in São Bartolomeu de Messines, for the month of September.

The photography exhibition “Inland Travel – Desertification and Depopulation in the Algarve”, by Telma Veríssimo, is the first of these activities.

Shown from 2 September to 2 October at that House-Museum and at the Messinense Instruction and Recreation Society (SIRM), this exhibition presents records that «are true testimonies of the consequences of the population's flight to the coast, their aging and disappearance essential services in smaller villages, among other aspects», considers the City Council of Silves.

The exhibition will open on September 2, at 16 pm, at SIRM.

Still on the 2nd, but at 17 pm, a meeting will take place at the Casa-Museu with the landscape architect Gonçalo Duarte Gomes on the theme “Sustainability of the Mediterranean Landscape“, which will revolve around the characteristics and threats to its identity.
