António Murta, PS candidate for the Vila Real de Santo António Council, accuses the government, of the same political color, of «changing security priorities in the parishes of the county» when announcing the construction of a GNR postOn Monte Gordo, instead of one of the PSP.

According to that candidacy, “by announcing the construction of a GNR post in Monte Gordo, the central government is clearly confusing the vocations of the different polices».

The construction of a PSP post would be the "most appropriate decision", he adds. The idea defended also involves the creation of a GNR post… but in the parish of Vila Nova de Cacela.

This is “eminently a completely unprotected rural parish, not having any physical proximity support where the population can come to protect themselves and their goods”, he says.

«Obviously, ill advised by the current management of the Vila Real de Santo António municipality, we do not understand this confusion that the central government grants. When you don't listen to the population, you always get screwed up», he concludes.
