This morning, an accident at Ponte Nova do Arade, on the EN125, between Lagoa and Portimão, caused three minor injuries and caused queues of traffic in both directions.

Algarve District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) source told Sul Informação that the accident happened at 8:00 am.

Our newspaper found that the accident resulted from a head-on collision of two cars, in the area of the pillar under construction on that bridge, where the road narrows. The wounded were transported to the hospital in Portimão.

At 8:30 am, the line reached the hospital roundabout, for those traveling from Portimão, and the area called the Cavaco curve, for those traveling from Lagoa.

Taking into account that many motorists fled the accident area, using the detour through Parchal and Ponte Velha to enter Portimão, traffic queues also formed in this area.

According to the CDOS, there were eight vehicles belonging to the firefighters, INEM, GNR and Rotas do Algarve Litoral, with 16 operational.

The situation is about to be resolved, with the complete reopening of the two lanes of the EN125.
