The second edition of the Octopus Week, in Quarteira, will take place between September 30th and October 8th, and registration for restaurants is already open until August 15th.

According to Armalgarve Polvo – Organization of Producers, which organizes the event in partnership with the Quarteira and Vilamoura Entrepreneurs Association (AEQV), this edition “comes with some news”.

Registration is open to all restaurants operating in the parish of Quarteira, and each one must participate with a menu, consisting of a main dish (in which the main ingredient is octopus), dessert and coffee.

This dish must appear on the restaurant's daily menu during all days of the event. As Armalgarve explains, "there may be room for other dishes (recipes) in the same establishment, which will act as options."

One of the novelties of the second edition of the Octopus Week is the holding of a recipe competition for participating restaurants, which can enter the contest with the menu that is stipulated for the event. In this contest, there will be two categories in the contest: typical/traditional cuisine and innovation cuisine.

The contestants' voting will be carried out by a group of judges and by the clients of the Octopus Week.

The organization wants “the offer of dishes to be as varied as possible. Therefore, the sooner you sign up, the easier it will be to guarantee the favorite recipe you will offer to customers».

Those interested must deliver the completed registration forms to the organizers, via email, or deliver them in person, together with the restaurant logo. Participants must also pay 40 euros. This amount will be used to promote the event.

The objective of the Octopus Week is, according to Armalgarve, to «promote the gastronomic heritage of the region, contribute to the local economy by stimulating consumption and publicizing projects that promote the fishing sector, of the organizing entities as well as other entities partners»
