Terras da Ria Snack Route starts today…and has already achieved a “miracle”

If it didn't have any other virtues - and it has many -, the new Route of Snacks of Terras da Ria could already, at least, announce that it was responsible for a almost miracle: is that yesterday, early evening, at the official launch at the Museum of Faro, managed to put side by side, and smiling, the presidents of the Chambers of Faro and from Olhão…

By the way, both Rogério Bacalhau, social-democratic mayor of Faro, like António Pina, socialist mayor from Olhão, realized this in the brief speeches they made, amid smiles or even laughter from the guests. Rota do Petisco «has the advantage of bringing together what is usually far away» António Pina said.

"We have a lot to gain by working together," added the mayor of Olhão, who even thanked the association Teia d'Impulsos, which organizes the Rota do Petisco, "for having promoted the union between Olhão and Faro».

Rogério Bacalhau, for his part, was keen to underline the interest the event has in promoting the local economy and business, namely in terms of gastronomic tourism, in the two neighboring municipalities.

This presentation had the power to be very ecumenical from a political point of view, since representatives of other parties were also there, such as councilor António Mendonça, from the CDU, who is again a candidate.

Political issues and (bad) neighbors aside, the first edition of Rota do Petisco in the lands of the Ria Formosa starts today, June 2, and continues until July 9, in 34 restaurants and patisseries in both cities (and surroundings). There are 34 good reasons to “walk the streets of Faro and Olhão with a wide-awake appetite and fun on the horizon».

Yesterday, in the cloisters of the former convent that houses the Municipal Museum of Faro, some of the snacks, to the sound of Tércio nanook or DJ Nuno Silva, were given to the guests to taste and the truth is that…there was nothing left! A good omen for the month that, those who like to eat well and socialize, can now dedicate to visiting, if not all, at least most of the establishments that adhere to this Terras da Ria Snack Route.

The concept is simple: snack here and there for a modest price. The participating establishments offer a special menu at a price of 3 euros for “Snacks” (snacks + drink) and 2 euros for the “Doce Regional” (dessert + drinks) to those who present their passport of the Rota do Petisco to be stamped.

This passport costs 1 euro and can be purchased at participating restaurants and patisseries or at one of the information offices on the Petisco Route: Tourist Offices of Faro and from Olhão, Nautical Center of the Island of Faro and Municipal Museum of Olhão.

The amount paid for the acquisition of the passport reverts in full to support the 12 social projects supported by Rota Solidária.

With the Rota do Petisco passport, the petiscadores give… but they also receive. «When you collect at least 12 stamps, you will automatically receive a gift and be entitled to one of the Rota do Petisco prizes. And there are even more offers and discounts to discover!», tells Teia d'Impulsos.
