Lagos gains five zones with free Wi-Fi from August

The Santo António and Marquês de Pombal Church squares, the Infante D. Henrique and Gil Eanes squares and the Municipal Market, in Lagos, will be free access zones. Wi-Fi to the internet, from August.

This project, which will cost around 60 euros, has a deadline for completion this month and is part of the program “Valorizar – Project for the Promotion and Valorization of the Tourist Offer of Lagos/Creation and Availability of Access Zones to Wi-Fi".

In addition to allowing access to the internet, it will give you the chance to consult information, such as points of interest, cultural events, and direct access to the portal websites the autarchy.

«Access to the internet assumes a growing importance in society, in access to information and in the daily professional and personal needs of each one. Quality free connection to networks Wi-Fi and the provision of relevant information has become an increasingly valued factor by tourists who visit us, in many cases influencing their decision», says the Câmara de Lagos.

Also for this reason, the project is intended, in essence, for the historical center area or other areas with a greater influx of tourists in that city.

With the municipality of Lagos convinced that «this change of paradigm forces us to adopt measures capable of re-qualifying and converting existing public spaces into dynamic and connected environments», it was decided to proceed with the project, intending, thus, «to support everyone visitors to enjoy as much as possible of the county's valences", insofar as "the sharing of experiences on social networks is encouraged as an alternative vehicle for the promotion of tourism in Lagos".

Currently, the municipality already offers free internet access zones in the Municipal Office of the XXI Century Building Paços do Concelho, in the Municipal Library of Lagos, in the Lagos Cultural Center and in the Youth Space.
