The Silves Beer Festival started this Thursday, a holiday, with a lot of heat (pulling on the tasting of the many beers present) and a lot of people.
The event, which continues until Sunday, June 18, with free entry, at Praça Al-Mutamid, downtown, was visited yesterday at length by two presidents: Rosa Palma, mayor of Silves, who supports the Festival, and Tiago Leal, president of Silves Futebol Clube, which he organizes.
Present are industrial beer brands – Super Bock, with its “normal” beer and some more artisanal tastes – as well as the three Algarve craft beers – Marafada, which is even from Silves, Moura, from Tavira, and Moça, from Faro – , as well as other artisanal production coming from various parts of the country.
To accompany the beer – which slides well on these hot almost summer nights – there is plenty to eat: from the sierra suckling pig sandwiches (from São Marcos da Serra), to the bifanas from Amigos dos Pequeninos, hamburgers, quebabs, shrimp and other snacks of the sea, pig on a skewer. For dessert, Algarve sweets or even plenty.
The Silves Beer Festival has permanent musical entertainment on both stages, as well as the presence of Zoomarine Pirates, who delight the little ones, with their games and songs.
Admission to the event is free, but the consumption of beer involves the purchase of an allusive glass mug, which costs 2,5 euros. The proceeds revert to Silves FC activities.
