The 9th and final stage, between the Alfanzina (Lagoa) and Vila Real de Santo António lighthouses, passing through the Farol of Cabo de Santa Maria, marked, on the 19th, the end of the “Farol Bike Tour”.

In the nine stages, around 1.060 kilometers were covered and 27 lighthouses of the 30 existing on the continent were visited. Portugal has 53 operational lighthouses (30 on the mainland, 7 on Madeira and 16 on the Azores).

The participants ended this initiative with the feeling of mission accomplished through personal improvement, but also realized by the possibility of contact with the “universe of navigation aids”, through the lighthouses and their guardians – the farorows.

A adventure on a bicycle had the participation of five soldiers and one faroland owned, in its majority, by the Directorate of Lighthouses and by the Clube do Sargento da Armada. O "Farol Bike Tour” had started on the 9th of June of the farol of Caminha (in Minho).
