The overall occupancy rate in Algarve hotels in April was 6% higher than that recorded in the same period last year, having reached 65,4%, according to data released this Friday, May 5th, by AHETA – Associação of the Hotels and Tourist Resorts in the Algarve.

The good results are due to the fact that Easter was celebrated in April, which "positively influenced them".

The markets that most contributed to the increase were the national (+2,5pp), the German (+1,6pp) and the Spanish (+1,2pp).

On the other hand, the main declines came from the Dutch (-0,5pp) and the British (-0,2pp). The biggest increases occurred in Lagos and Sagres (+17,4pp), Portimão/Praia da Rocha (+12,6pp) and Carvoeiro/Armação de Pêra (+11,4pp). Albufeira already registered an increase of 1,9pp.

As for sales volume, it increased 17,3 percent during the month. In accumulated terms, since the beginning of the year, the room occupancy rate has increased by 6,0%.
