“If one day someone told me like this: maybe we can win the Eurovision with a ballad, I would say that it was a joke”. That's how the Young man of a halter (Algarvian artist Dário Guerreiro) starts, to the sound of “Amar pelo Dois”, his parody “Caímos de pé”, in which he imitates the song that Salvador Sobral will perform tonight in the final of the Eurovision Festival.

In this satire, Dário, with his characteristic, but lighter, Algarve accent, appears on stage at TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão, dressed in the style of Salvador Sobral, even wearing a wig.

In statements to the Sul Informação, the comedian acknowledged that «it is not difficult for a person to fall in love» with the song “Amar Pelos Dois”.

As soon as this ballad won the Festival da Canção, the «idea of making a parody was immediate and I immediately spoke to my friend, and magnificent pianist, Laura Quaresma to help me with the instrumental», he explained.

«It was also immediately decided the day the video would come out: May 2nd, the week before Eurovision, to take advantage of the height of greater buzz around the event and we started to work towards that deadline», he added.

And the truth is that the video is a real success in Youtube, with almost 242 thousand views, despite the Young man of a halter to say that he has already made other parodies «with a much higher “virality” index».

«Was success expected? I confess that, in terms of number of views, I was more or less expecting this to be this (around 200, because it's a number that other parodies easily reached), I just didn't expect it to happen a week after the video was released. . I felt that people would also like it, if it were a humorous parody, minimally well executed, but in a tone of homage and without any kind of gratuitous mockery», he told our newspaper.

The preparation for the parody involved not only the help of Laura Quaresma, but also of TEMPO, who provided the space, and Joel Filipe Duarte, who filmed the video. The writing of “Caímos de pé” was in charge of the comedian.

Dário Guerreiro considers that writing «lyrics for parodies is something that is often neglected by many people who make versions of existing songs», but it is necessary «very careful so that the new metric is the same as the original and this is often not the case» .

Tonight Salvador Sobral will try, in Kiev, to bring to Portugal the first “title” in the Eurovision. “I try not to put the weight of victory on the Savior's shoulders. I am sure he will do his best and there is no doubt that we are extremely well represented. If we don't win, it's not his fault or the song's fault. But I am confident that we will achieve, at least, the best place ever in the Eurovision, surpassing the 6th of 1996», highlighted Dário Guerreiro.

That's why Portugal… will always “fall on its feet”. And if victory doesn't smile on us, the Young man of a halter he has already outlined a future scenario: «Belgians, Swiss and Czechs, don't be badamecos and vote for Portugal. If they don't give us the victory, for the year our trump card is Maria Leal».
