The Alcoutim City Council is going to give a support of 5 thousand euros to Grupo Desportivo de Alcoutim to encourage the practice of motocross. This amount is intended to support Alcoutenejo riders Luís Teixeira, who participates in the 2017 Off-Road National Championship, and Fábio Vilão, who competes in the 2017 MX Ribatejo Regional Championship.
The support also appears as a way of boosting this modality, taking into account that Alcoutim regularly receives «motorsport events, which are already a tradition in the region, and which demonstrate the potential of the existing natural conditions for the practice of this sport».
«The participation of alcoutenejo athletes reinforces the municipality's image with sporting potential, considering athletes to be ambassadors of the municipality and its people», concluded the Chamber of Alcoutim.
