The old sawmill in Monchique will once again have wood to be “worked” inside, by the La Cosa group, and the Carabosse will “burn down” the Castle of Aljezur, next weekend.
These two of the shows, which are part of the schedule of the International Festival of Performing Arts, mark the "see you" of the project "till the sea“, since the promoters believe that «an unstoppable dynamic for the future may have been created», at the cultural level, in Monchique and Aljezur.
About the spectacle by the Belgians La Cosa, which will be presented in the old sawmill of Monchique, on the 26th, 27th and 28th of May, always at 19 pm, Madalena Victorino, one of those responsible for the Lavrar o Mar project, explains that «from language of the new circus, acrobatics will be performed with wooden logs, which rise in sculptural structures of great beauty».
According to the choreographer, this show, held at that location, «intends to pay homage to one of the great companies in Monchique, which has already closed. Mr. Joaquim was its great driving force, bringing machines from all over Europe, to make a sawmill on a European scale. That empire has fallen and now it is from him that this jumping wood will be raised».
With regard to the fire show in Carabosse, in Aljezur, after a first installation, last weekend, which was to be seen from afar, on the 27th, at 21 pm, the fire "invades" the interior of the castle .
«The public is invited to enter the castle, to walk inside, where there will be a musical installation. The route, flanked by fire facilities, begins at the bottom of the village and intensifies until the apotheosis, in the castle. There will be around 1500 terracotta vases, with wax, to be installed in this show», reveals Giacomo Scalisi, co-responsible for “Lavrar o Mar”, to the Sul Informação.
«Fire creates a certain silence in the audience, there is a certain respect, it is an experience, which leads the audience to focus on their surroundings. A very particular phenomenon is created. It already happened last Saturday and, this weekend, people are invited to be side by side with the fire», he adds.
The performances of La Cosa and Carabosse are considered the «highlights» the weekend, but the festival schedule has more proposals.
In Monchique, also in the old sawmill, on the 26th, 27th and 28th, the Petit Theater de Gestes, at 21:3 pm, in a show that combines the magic of the circus, object theatre, dance and puppetry.
Already with "In the workshop”, the puppet theater will pass through both counties. This show, which will challenge children and adults to play with a puppet for 18 minutes, is presented at Moagem, in Aljezur, on the 26th, at 10:00 am, 11:00 am and 12:00 pm, and on the 27th, at 16:00 pm, 17:00 pm and 18:00 pm. In Monchique, the Study Room will receive this proposal, on the 28th, at 15:00 pm, 16:00 pm and 17:00 pm.
Also through a puppet the story of “Sunset” (The setting sun). the theater company Tof Theater will present this piece at Praia da Arrifana, on the 26th and 27th of May, at 20:30.
The “Trigger of Happiness”, by João Galante and Ana Borralho, which was presented in Monchique, last weekend, will be “shot” in the auditorium of the EB 2,3 School in Aljezur, on Friday, at 21:30 pm.
