This Saturday, at 21:30 pm, at the Olhão Municipal Auditorium, OLUDO will reveal “Abraço”, the band's latest work. This will be an intimate concert, which shows, for the first time, the ten themes that complete the new album.

«It's a concert with an intensive and arranged visit to new themes and also to some of the old themes, which people know better and will also want to hear» says Luís Leal, the band's drummer, in a conversation with the Musical | Sul Informação.

Guitarist João Batista, on the other hand, adds that "we have some ideas" for the concert, "I'm remembering now two or three, which go through, not only to give the songs other clothes, but to give them a little more tempo, a little more of volume beat. It will be a little out there».

The musicians guarantee that the concert will not show great differences from the older songs, but with the contribution of Luís Leal, who did not belong to the band when it was created, they will have «other ideas, other approaches».

Being the first time they present the themes of the new album live, oLUDO see the show as special, because they confess that the place also determines the way the band performs on stage.

“The audiences and the place where they play affect the musician's interpretation. Playing in an auditorium is different from playing at a festival, the attitude and the way you “put your hand” are different», explains Luís Leal.

The atmosphere will be festive, with many guests, who participated "in this great production that has been taking place for over a year," says the drummer.

As for “extra” musicians, the choice falls only on Teresa Aleixo who, more than a guest, is already part of the “family”, because the intention is, above all, to show the band in its essence.

«It's always easier to invite a lot of people, because there's more dynamics on stage, but we want it to be really raw, for the songs to be the songs, for their value, and we thought the correct bet would be to perform on stage without help, without crutches,” explains Luis Leal.

It's been almost six years to separate the debut album “Almirante” and this one “Embrace”. The absence, for professional reasons of the vocalist, Davide Anjos, explains, in part, the hiatus, but the integration of Luís Leal as a new element is, for João Batista, the fundamental reason.

“We wanted it to be 100 percent integrated and that went through an adaptation process. Sometimes it's difficult to give the necessary space, because we've been working for a long time in the same way and with the same sound and it's difficult to allow certain musical incursions, which can clash. But that was not the case here».

Although the musicians have already shared other projects of covers, the necessary delivery to a band of originals, where each one gives more «of themselves, of their influences, of what they feel» led them to need time to get to know each other and delay a new release.

As for the sound achieved in “Abraço”, there is a search for new paths, relying on new influences, such as those brought from the other side of the Atlantic, by vocalist Davide Anjos.

«There was a concern to update the band's sound, using electronic and sound elements. In musical construction, we tried to simplify and get closer to a greater number of people», concludes Luís Leal.

After the performance in Olhão, the band heads to Lisbon to extend the “Abraço” to Teatro do Bairro, on the 13th of April.
