Urban mountain biking returns to liven up the streets of Olhão on the 27th of May. The Ginásio Clube Olhanense (GCO) will promote another edition of its Night Race, where participants are challenged to walk a circuit that passes through the streets, squares and the most emblematic buildings in the city's history, including the “Caminho das Lendas” that crosses the typical neighborhoods of Barreta and Levante.

Cyclists will be challenged to ride for two hours on a closed circuit of 4,5 kilometers, in an event that celebrates «the emotions and adrenaline of urban mountain biking», illustrated the GCO. Participants will depart from Jardim Pescador Olhanense, next to the Ria Formosa, and then enter the historic center of Olhão.

The organization hopes to "repeat the success" of previous editions - last year the competition attracted 250 people - and will introduce some new features in this 3rd edition, namely "some changes to the course, which above all, will give athletes the opportunity to enjoy from the magnificent landscape of the Ria Formosa, passing by the emblematic fish market and the main gardens of the city, as well as, showing some of the squares and squares of the Caminho das Lendas, located in the historic area of the city».

The competition is disputed individually, classifying the athletes by class (male/female) and by age category (after 1977 ELITES, until 1977 MASTERS). «This year, 15 trophies will be up for grabs, several vouchers, gifts and many surprises», announced the GCO.

Registration is now open and is limited to 300 participants. Those interested in participating must register on the event's official websitethe or the Cronosport website.

«In addition to promoting the practice of sport and mountain biking, this competition aims to promote traditional trade and the architectural and natural heritage of downtown Olhão», adds the Ginásio Clube Olhanense, which organizes the competition through its section of MTB Team Moss.
