Diogo Correia won the photography contest “Algarve Genuíno”, promoted by the City Council of São Brás de Alportel, with the photo “Wave a collide on the centenary wall of the Chalet of Armação de Pêra”. The results of the second edition of this initiative, whose theme was “Discovering Historic Centers”, were revealed on Wednesday, March 29 (National Day of Historic Centers).

The work “Promontório de Sagres”, by Vanda Oliveira, registered in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, won 2nd place, and Agostinho Teixeira, winner of the first edition, this time reached 3rd place with “Há vida na História”, moment captured in the historic center of Portimão.

The first, second and third place holders received gift vouchers from FNAC in the amount of 150, 100 and 50 euros, respectively.

The “Special Honorable Mention of the Historic Center of São Brás de Alportel” was awarded to Carolina Custódio with “Casa Azul”, the setting chosen by the competitor to illustrate the county's historic area.

The jury also decided to award an “Honorable Mention” to Helena Correia, “for the excellent technical work and the new perspective with which she captured the “Portas da Cidade de Silves””, says the City Council of São Brás.

“Algarve Genuíno” aims to “discover new talents in the world of photography, privileging the recording for posterity of landscapes, people or moments that have a strong connection to the Algarve, its history and origins”, says the São Paulo municipality.

This initiative was organized by the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel and, this year, had the support of FNAC Faro. The works in competition are now on display at the Explanatory and Reception Center of Calçadinha.
