The international conference “Participatory Schools 4 Better Democracy” will take place between the 19th and 21st of April, at the Penha Pedagogical Complex, at the University of Algarve, in Faro.

The conference, promoted by the ECOS Cooperative and by the Pinheiro e Rosa Schools Group, «intends to be a space and a moment for the promotion of joint reflections, the creation of networking opportunities and the sharing of good practices, tools and experiences of participation, citizenship and democracy at School».

This initiative comes "in a period marked by rapid and widespread social changes, by the crisis of democratic systems (which we thought were solid and solid) and by the citizens' lack of interest in conventional political participation", explains the organization.

The conference is aimed at school managers, teachers, educators, students, guardians and professionals and public and private entities with responsibilities in the areas of Youth and Education.

The event will have communications in Portuguese and English and simultaneous translation will be provided for both languages.

Registration for the conference must be made at this link and the program can be consulted here.

Participation in the event costs 20 euros, for the general public, and includes lunch on the 20th and 21st of April at the University of Algarve's canteen. Students in general have free admission, as do teachers and non-teaching staff from the Pinheiro e Rosa Schools Group.

On the night of April 20th there will be a convivial dinner, which costs an additional 20 euros.
